Many people in our society do not have access to health care, the resources to go to gyms, nor the time or means to attend artistic performances. Other people just need more of what makes them feel vital. The common link is that this movement program builds community collectively and holistically.
The 40|40™ includes:
Live group classes and individual sessions. These are two ways to help people who have a lack of movement, high stress, and unhealthy lifestyle practices. Over the course of the program people become more active and they do it alongside other members of their community. When people move together they build a stronger bond than moving alone.
Events and parties. These are organized as part of The 40|40™, giving people an opportunity to be together in a joyous way, with food, games, and live music.
Healthy snacks. Healthy snacks are provided at all classes and events to help people eat better and connect the movement classes to a larger lifestyle change.
Professional artistic performances. As a culmination of The 40|40™, A Movement Movement comes on-site to offer a performance for people who do not have access or resources to go see it. These performances inspire kids and adults alike, and offer another perspective on how the body can be a message of empowerment and hope.
Custom t-shirts, class music playlists, and certificate diplomas. All participants are given these items, which affirm their participation and help them feel like they belong to something larger than themselves.
Through surveys and tests, participants of The 40|40™ increased their happiness, lowered their anxiety, lowered their blood sugar, and lost weight. They also expressed greater vitality, a desire to leave their homes, a feeling of belonging with others, and a desire to engage more in their community.
